Let's work together: Mohiuddin

Chittagong, June 24 (bdnews24.com) ? Former Chittagong city mayor A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury has offered to work together with the incumbent mayor for overall development of the port city.

"Let's take initiatives to turn Chittagong into a beautiful city," Mohiuddin told a programme on Friday without naming M Manzur Alam.

The former three-time mayor also urged the people from all walks of life to unite to achieve the target.

"I lost to him in the polls. There may be some ill-feelings, but I'm here responding to his call," Mohiuddin, a top city Awami League leader, said alluding Manzur, a long-time aide, at the month-long tree fair at the Outer Stadium.

Mohiuddin also thanked Manzur for inviting him to the event. But mayor Manzur was not present at the programme.

He admitted that there were infightings among the political leaders of Chittagong and said: "We ourselves invited the conflicts."

The fair, introduced by Mohiuddin, was being carried on by Manzur.

"The initiative was taken to make people aware about plantation. It'll continue."

City corporation officials, Chittagong University teacher Mosharraf Hossain, director Zafar Alam of environment directorate's Chittagong unit and divisional forest officer (Chittagong north) Uttam Kumar Saha were, among others present at the programme.
