4 dead in Tangail train crash

Tangail, July 17 (bdnews24.com) ? At least four people have been killed in a train accident at a level-crossing in Mirzapur upazila of the district.

Sub-inspector of Mirzapur Police Station Sharif Uddin Bhuiyan told bdnews24.com the accident occurred on Sunday noon at Bhanuabah level-crossing on Sohagpara-Kalimajani road when Dhaka-bound Ekota Express hit a human hauler.

The train hit the vehicle when it was passing through the level-crossing as there was no gateman, he said.

Locals said the gatemen of the crossing quit their job as they did not get any wage for the last several months.

SI Sharif said two of the deceased were identified as driver Abdul Wahab, 32, and Sakhina Begum, 65, of Kalimajani village.

DEVELOPING NEWS26 children dead in Ctg crash

Chittagong, July 11 (bdnews24.com)?At least 26 primary school children have died when a pick-up truck veered off the road into a canal in Mirsarai in Chittagong.

Mirsarai Police Station officer-in-charge Iftekhar Hassan on Monday confirmed the figure to bdnews24.com and said over 40 deaths from the accident are feared as more bodies could be trapped inside the sunken truck.

Among the 26 recovered, 11 have been kept at the Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, 13 at Matrika Hospital, a nearby private clinic, and two at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

OC Iftekhar said many relatives had taken away the remains from the scene and thus the number of deaths could not be ascertained.

He said the open truck was carrying a good number of school children who were returning after attending a football tournament.

It fell into a ravine at Bara Takia on Abu Torab Road around 1.45pm.

Police and Fire Service have begun rescue operations, he said.

5 killed, 6 injured in Narsingdi road crash

NARSINGDI, June 24: Five people were killed and six others injured as a truck hit another stationary truck from behind near Sristigarh in Shibpur Upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway early Friday. The deceased were identified as Idris(35), Alauddin (40), Hamid (30) and Shaheen (19). Witnesses said when labourers were loading vegetables in a truck on the sideway another Bhairab bound truck from Dhaka rammed the stationary truck from behind at about 1:00 am. Three of the labourers were crushed under the wheels while another died on the way to hospital. ? UNB

Narsinghdi road crash kills 5

Narsinghdi, June 24 (bdnews24.com)?A road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shibpur Upazila has killed five people and left 10 others injured.

Shibpur Police Station sub-inspector Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain told bdnews24.com a Dhaka-bound pick-up van slammed into a truck after its driver had lost control over the steering at Gabtoli around 12:30am on Friday.

Four of the deceased were identified as Shahid Mia, 45, 'Shaheen', 25, 'Hamid, 35, and 'Alauddin', 50. Another deceased was a male person.

Five of the injured were admitted to the Narsinghdi Sadar Hospital while others received first aid, the officer added.

The bodies of the deceased were sent to Sadar hospital for autopsy, he said.

The van and the truck were seized and a case was filed with the Shibpur police, he added.

4 killed in Gazipur road crash

Gazipur: Four people, including three members of a family, were killed when a private car carrying them met a triangle accident at Tetuibari in Sadar upazila early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Liton Khan, 45, his wife Eliza, 40, son Dipu, 8, and unidentified private car driver aged about 35. They all hailed from Ghatail upazila in Tangail.

Police said a truck while overtaking hit a bus and later the two vehicles hit another private car at the point, which was coming from opposite direction, leaving four dead on the spot at about 5:30am.

The bus and truck fell into roadside following the accident, which took place on Kaliakoir-Nabinagar road.

The private car was going to capital from Ghatail in Tangail.

Police later seized the bus and truck, but its drivers and helpers managed to escape.

Rangpur road crash kills 4

Rangpur, June 18 (bdnews24.com) ? A road accident on Dhaka-Rangpur highway has left four people dead and at least six others injured.

Police said the accident took place in Rasulpur area under Peerganj upazila of the district when a truck carrying labourers from Dhaka overturned around 9:30am on Saturday.

Three of the deceased were identified as Mohammad Rabiul, 35, of Taraganj, Anukul Chandra of Gangachhara and Kalu Mia, 48, of Kishoriganj in Nilphamari.

The injured were taken to Peerganj Upazila Healtyh Complex.
