'AL has surrendered to Pak ideology'
Chittagong, July 16 (bdnews24.com) ? The ruling Awami League has surrendered to Pakistani ideology through the 15th amendment, the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has said.
"After the amendment, the state now has a Pakistani nature," CPB general secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim told a discussion on Saturday.
"Soon there will be demands for Shariah law and Shariah Board in the country," he said.
The 15th amendment was passed in parliament on June 30, retaining Islam as the state religion.
"The fact that constitution was amended, but state religion Islam and 'Bismillah' were retained and opportunity for religion-based politics was kept open while socialism was distorted?Awami League has surrendered to Pakistani ideology," Selim said.
The discussion was arranged by CPB Chittagong committee at the Chittagong Press Club.
