STALKER ON PROWL Siblings sentenced for harassing girl
Tangail, July 10 (bdnews24.com) ? A mobile court in Tangail has sentenced a youth and his sister for harassing a female student.
Police said the upazila executive officer (UNO) issued the order on Sunday against Kamrul Islam, 20, and Selina Akter, 18, son and daughter of Sohrab Ali of Kalihati municipality area.
Kalihati Police Station inspector (investigation) Zahirul Islam said Kamrul was jailed for six months, while Selina was fined Tk 2,000 or seven days' imprisonment, if she fails to pay the fine.
Zahirul said, "Kamrul had been stalking an eighth grader of Elenga Jitendrabala Girls' High School for long."
"Selina would work as a trickster to take the girl out of the school, while Kamrul would be waiting at the gate as per their plan," he added.
On suspicion, one day teachers of the school tried to question Selina about the goings-on. But instead of responding to their query, she got scared and tried to run away. However, people caught her along with her brother.
Later police took them to the UNO's office where they were handed down the punishment.
