Nat'l team preliminary camp from Friday

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has selected 24 players for a preliminary camp before forming the national team to play their home match against Pakistan in the 2014 FIFA-World Cup Brazil Asian qualifiers first round on June 29.

The match will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Bangladesh will play their away match with Pakistan in Lahore on July 3.

The BFF at last decided to organise a short-term warming-up camp from June 24 after Croatian and Macedonian coaches failed to turn up to guide the Bangladesh team as they refused to fly to Pakistan to play the away match on security grounds.

The BFF asked the selected players to report to local coach Syed Golam Zillani at BFF Bhaban on June 24 at 11 am. The players, who are yet to complete their Bangladesh League matches, would join the team in BKSP later on.

Newly crowned Bangladesh League champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club have maximum number of nine players followed by Muktijoddha Sangsad with five players, Last three times professional league champions Dhaka Abahani Limited have three players, while four booters have been picked up from Sheik Russell Krira Chakra. Brothers Union and Farashganj Sporting have one each, while the other player in a Bangladeshi expatriate living in Denmark.

This will be the first time in the history of Bangladesh football that no player from Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting could even get a call in the preliminary camp.

The selected players are:
Goalkeepers: Biplab Bhatacharjee, Md Nehal (Muktijoddha) and Mamun Khan (Sk Russell).

Defenders: Mamun Miah, Md Lincoln (Abahani), Yamin Ahmed Chowdhury Munna (Muktijoddha), Uttyam Kumar Banik (Sk Russell), Ariful Islam, Rezaul Karim, Nasirul Islam Nasir (Sheikh Jamal), Yousuf Ali Kan (Brothers Union).

Midfielders: Maruf Ahmed (Muktijoddha), Monem Khan Razu ( Sk Russell), Zahid Hassan, Shakil Ahmed, Abdul Baten Majumdar, Atiqur Rahman Mishu (Sk Jamal) and Jamal Bhuyian (Bangladeshi living in Denmark).

Forwards: Mithun Chowdhury (Muktijoddha), Md Yusuf (Sk Russell), Zahid Hasan Emily (Sk Jamal), Sohel Rana (Farashganj) and Shakwat Hossain Rony (Abahani).
