BCB to organise IPL-like event
Dhaka, June 20 (bdnews24.com) ? Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to organise an international Twenty20 cricket tournament, like Indian IPL, the state minister for youth and sports tells parliament.
During the question-answer session on Monday, Ahad Ali Sarker said BCB made the decision at its 31st meeting.
Answering a query by Rangpur-1 MP Hossain Makbul Shahriar, he said: "The process of making a concept paper or business module of the tournament is at the primary stage."
Responding to another query by Kishoreganj-3 MP Mohammad Mujibul Haque, the state minister said the International Cricket Council (ICC) had controlled the affairs of World Cup cricket organisation in Bangladesh and its entire earnings and expenditure.
"After getting the final account from the ICC, the parliament will be informed of it," he said.
In reply to a question by reserved women seat MP Tahura Ali, local government and rural development minister Syed Ashraful Islam said since 2007, 86 roads in Dhaka city have been named after freedom fighters, journalists, Language Movement veterans and political leaders, who made important contributions to the country.
