Suranjit urges Khaleda to discard politics of confusion

Elderly Awami League leader and chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on law, justice and parliamentary affairs Suranjit Sengupta has urged the leader of the opposition in parliament, Khaleda Zia, to discard the politics of confusion.

‘Stop birthday celebration (of Begum Zia) on August 15 and come to Tungipara to pay respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,’ he said while addressing the 35th death anniversary of founder of Bangladesh Krishak League and former minister Abdur Rab Serniabat at Ashmini Kumar Hall in Barisal Saturday.

‘There is a basic deference between the politics of Sheikh Hasina and Begum Khaleda Zia. Hasina’s politics is for the people of the country while Khaleda Zia’s politics is for the devils,’ Suranjit added.

The High Court has already earned the confidence of the people through the trial of the killers of Sheikh Mujib, he said adding the court recently declared the regimes of Khandkar Mustaq, General Zia and Ershad as illegal.

He said China, the United States and Middle East had been realising that the religion in politics created conflicts within the country.

Recalling the contribution of Serniabat, Suranjit said he had distributed water bodies to the fishermen during sixties.

The present government under the leadership of Hasina has started distribution of water bodies among the marginal fishermen, he added.

Chaired by vice-president of Central Kishak League Khan Altaf Hossain, the function was addressed, among others, by state minister for home Shamsul Haque Tuku, mayor of Barisal Municipality Shawkat Hossain Hiron, former chief whip Abul Hasnat Abdullah, Talukder Mohammad Yunus, MP, Pro-vice-chancellor of Dhaka University Harun-ur-Rashid and adviser of Mahila Awami League Shahanara Abdullah.
